Itinerary
- Day 1 | Srinagar-Gardens, Lake Light and First Impressions
Arrive in Srinagar and meet your chauffeur-driven M/SUV for a lakeside transfer to your chosen retreat, a luxury houseboat on Dal or Nigeen Lake or a heritage palace such as The LaLiT Grand Palace, its lawns stepping down towards the water under old chinar trees. Check in, sip fragrant kahwa with a local bakery nibble and take time to settle into the slower rhythm of the valley. Later, wander through one or two of Srinagar’s Mughal gardens, where terraces, fountains and avenues of trees frame views of the lake and surrounding hills. As evening softens, you may choose to drive up to Pari Mahal or Shankaracharya Temple Hill for your first wide-angle view over Dal Lake before returning to your houseboat or palace hotel to dine at leisure.
Meals: At own arrangement - Day 2 | Srinagar-Kheer Bhavani-Manasbal-Sonamarg (Meadow of Gold)- Srinagar
After breakfast, follow the road out of Srinagar to the Mata Kheer Bhavani temple at Tulmulla, where a sacred spring and shaded courtyard draw quiet streams of pilgrims. Continue to Ancient Shiva Temple at Manasbal Lake, often mirror-calm, for short photo stops and a sense of rural Kashmir. From here, the valley narrows as you drive along the Sindh River towards Sonamarg, the meadow of gold, where high ridges and open pastures frame your day. Time is yours to walk, take an optional pony ride or head towards the Thajiwas glacier in season, and to enjoy lunch on your own at a local hotel or cafe. In the late afternoon, return along the river and back to the familiar lights of Srinagar, where the lake and your chosen stay await.
Meals: •B - Day 3 | Srinagar-Gulmarg (High Meadows and Gondola Views)-Srinagar
After breakfast, leave the lakes behind and drive through paddy fields and villages towards Gulmarg, where a broad meadow opens beneath the Panchaladeva (Pir Panjal) range. Spend the day among pine forests and long slopes, with the option to take the gondola towards higher viewpoints in season, wander beside the golf course, or simply sit out over coffee while ponies, hikers or skiers trace the landscape. Lunch is independent at a recommended hotel or cafe, with local Kashmiri dishes and familiar favourites available. By late afternoon, descend with the changing light over the valley and return to Srinagar for another quiet evening on the water or in your palace room.
Meals: •B - Day 4 | Srinagar- Mattan- Martand- Pahalgam- Srinagar (Rivers, Temples and Pine Valleys)
After breakfast, set out along the road to Pahalgam, first stopping at Mattan, a spring-fed temple complex that has drawn worshippers for centuries. Continue to legendary King Lalitaditya Muktapida built Martand ancient sun temple complex, where stone colonnades and platforms stand open to the sky, offering sweeping views across the valley and surrounding mountains. From here, follow the Lidder River to Pahalgam, a town ringed by pine forests and side valleys. You have time to stroll by the river, explore nearby viewpoints in season or simply sit out with tea and watch the water flow past. Lunch is on your own at a recommended restaurant. By evening, drive back to Srinagar for your final night on Dal or Nigeen Lake or at The LaLiT Grand Palace.
Meals: •B - Day 5 | Srinagar- Shikara at Dawn and Farewell to the Valley
Wake to still water and step aboard a private shikara for an unhurried morning glide across Dal Lake, drifting past floating gardens, waterways lined with wooden homes and, in season, sections of the floating market that make for atmospheric photography. The quiet slap of the oar and the outline of the mountains give a last sense of the valley’s rhythm. Return to your stay for a lingering breakfast before check-out. Depending on timing, your chauffeur can pause en route to the airport or railway station for last-minute shopping for pashmina, saffron, dry fruits or walnut-wood handicrafts. Depart with lake reflections and ridgelines held in memory.
